MACAEL WHITE MARBLE MORTARS
Macael white marble, also called "white gold" has been used since at least 2,700 BC.
We find famous structures composed with this marble.
The Roman theater of Mérida, inaugurated around 15 BC, has its columns and part of these structures built with this marble.
The Alhambra Palace has its columns which were sculpted in this marble in the 14th century.
This courtyard of the lions also had its fountain sculpted in this same marble.
The mortars
Macael white marble mortars are commonly used in the kitchen and previously by apothecaries.

A few decades ago, marble mortar was abandoned, as it was impossible to maintain a product that had lost its profitability due to the time and labor required to manufacture it by hand (pointer and chisel). It was at this point that Andrés Muro took the first step and began an industrialized process, automating processes and developing new manufacturing techniques.
The industry changed, electricity arrived, and with the little machinery that existed at that time, he devised his own systems, mechanisms and tools to be able to manufacture his mortars profitably and thus maintain this jewel of a product for all this time. . .
He designed, created and standardized his own Macael mortars with his specific measures and with a unique style, a trademark. "Today, when someone sees his mortars anywhere, he knows it's an Artesanía Muro mortar."
